Embassy of India celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr with Indian Community in Oman

           Keeping in tradition with celebration of various cultural and religious festivals of India like Holi, Deepawali, Christmas, Easter, Lohri etc., the Indian Embassy celebrated the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr at its premises on 15th June 2018.  The Embassy joined hands with Indian Social Club Oman, including its various Linguistic Wings, to organize the celebration which was open to all and was attended by around 500 persons, including women and children from all walks of life.  They came not only from Muscat but also from other parts of Oman to join the celebration. On this festive occasion, singers from within the Indian community in Oman presented a number of Ghazals, Qawaalis and Sufi songs.  The traditional Indian Eid cuisine was served on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr to all the invitees.  The Embassy had earlier organized Iftaars for the Indian community, as well as Omani media and business community and the Diplomatic Corps in Oman.  

           Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in India on 16th June with traditional warmth, and enthusiasm, with Eid Milan get-togethers organized in villages, towns and cities.  Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, Shri Indra Mani Pandey, in his address, highlighted India’s unity in diversity. He stated that India, as a multi-lingual, multi-religious and multi-cultural society, takes pride in and celebrates its diversity and all the religious and cultural festivals in India are celebrated by people from all the communities.  He stressed that Indian community in Oman has remained united, while expressing its diversity through various social and cultural programmes, organized by Linguistic Wings of Indian Social Club, and it presents in Oman a micro-cosm of the diverse India.  Dr. SathishNambiar, President of Indian Social Club Oman, underlined that even though Indian Social Club had been organizing Eid Milan for the Indian community during past years, it was happy to associate with the Embassy for organizing Eid-ul-Fitr celebration at the premises of the Indian Embassy.
