
H.E. Shri Prashant Pise
H.E. Shri Prashant Pise joined the Indian Foreign Service in September 1995. He served as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs looking after emigration policy of the Government of India, migration and mobility related matters.
Before returning to Headquarters, he served as Ambassador of India to Tunis from 2016-2019 and Ambassador of India to Iraq from 2021 to 2024. He also served as Deputy Director General (DDG), Indian Council of World Affairs, a think-tank supported by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India. He was earlier DDG, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) from 2019-2021 handling soft power diplomacy, playing a key role in promoting and strengthening India’s cultural diplomacy.
His other overseas assignments in the Indian Embassies were at Cairo, Tripoli, Tokyo, Mauritius and London.
In the Ministry of External Affairs, he worked as Deputy Secretary in UN Division coordinating multilateral diplomacy issues in the areas of Economic and Social matters dealing with environment and climate change, migration, sustainable development, human rights, prevention of organised crime and drugs issues.
He has an engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from the National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, India and worked in the technology field from 1991-1995 at Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) before joining the MEA.
