Visit of a Qawwali troupe headed by Shri Yousuf Khan Nizami to Oman (26-30 October, 2026)

A Qawwali troupe headed by Shri Yousuf Khan Nizami visited Oman from 26–30 October 2026, presenting a series of musical performances in Muscat and Sohar, showcasing India's rich cultural and musical heritage.

2. The troupe led by Shri Yousuf Khan Nizami, A Delhi-based Qawwali and Sufi vocalist belonging to a traditional music lineage, brings with it a rich heritage of Indian devotional music. Associated with the Sikandrabad Gharana and trained under renowed Qawwal Ustad Ghulam Sabir Nizami, the group has been empanelled with ICCR since 2012 and has represented India’s musical traditions at various International cultural platforms. Its performances reflect the enduring legacy of Qawwali, blending classical musical traditions with the spiritual expressions of Sufi poetry.

3. The troupe in collaboration with the Indian Social Club, Oman presented performances across Muscat and Sohar. The performances offered an opportunity to experience India’s vibrant Qawwali tradition and highlighted the role of cultural exchanges in strengthening people-to-people ties between India and Oman

4. The Qawwali performance was a further reflection of the festival’s commitment to celebrating music as a universal language that brings people together through shared experiences of rhythm, melody and emotion.
