The Embassy of India, Muscat, organised a workshop on traditional Bhil and Warli paintings at the Embassy on 02 November 2026, in association with the Rangrez Group, as part of the observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas promoting Cultural Ties with diaspora (PCTD)
- Observed annually on 15 November, Janjatiya Gaurav Divas commemorates the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the revered tribal freedom fighter, and celebrates the invaluable contributions of India's tribal communities to the nation's history, culture and heritage. The occasion also recognises their role in India's freedom struggle and highlights the importance of preserving their rich cultural traditions.
- The workshop offered participants an opportunity to explore and appreciate two distinctive traditional Indian tribal art forms – Bhil and Warli painting. Through their characteristic motifs, patterns and storytelling, these art forms reflect the deep connection of tribal communities with nature, community life and their cultural heritage.
- The initiative highlighted India's rich indigenous artistic traditions and reaffirmed the importance of preserving and promoting tribal art forms, while fostering greater appreciation of India's cultural diversity and heritage.
