INDIA-OMAN DEFENCE INDUSTRY COOPERATION SEMINAR

(MUSCAT; 26-27 OCT 26)

The second edition of India Oman Defence Industry Cooperation Seminar culminated in Muscat on 27 Oct 26. The two-day event hosted by the Embassy of India witnessed wide participation from officials from Omani ministries of Defence and Commerce, and industry partners from India and Oman. The MoD Oman delegation for the Seminar was led by Engineer Said Saif Saud Al Shabibi, Director General of Research and Military Industries. 
The Indian delegation was conducted by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and comprised 24 delegates from 16 Indian defence companies. The combined expertise of the delegation spanned an impressive range of domains namely, maritime security, naval systems, unmanned platforms, robotics, sensors, advanced electronics, artificial intelligence, communications, cyber security, shipbuilding and other emerging technologies.
Addressing the Seminar, attended by over 125 participants, Ambassador Prashant Pise emphasized upon defence cooperation as a key pillar of the India-Oman Strategic Partnership, underpinned by a shared and paramount commitment to regional peace and stability. He exhorted the industry to leverage exisiting India-Oman institutional mechanism and frameworks, particularly the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), to advance defence industrial collaboration.
Besides showcasing a remarkable array of capabilities, technologies, and innovative solutions, the Seminar featured release of the publication, ‘Indian Defence Industry – Going Global’, in its Arabic version, and a bilingual delegate profile booklet elucidating company profiles and products of participating Indian companies. On the sidelines of the Seminar, Omani LLC MSA Global and IG Defence from India also signed a MoU for collaboration on drone and counter-drone solutions, and multiple site visits in collaboration with Omani industry partners was conducted.  
The India-Oman defence industry cooperation seminar forged significant linkages between Indian and Omani industry partners, and guided their efforts towards co-development, co-production and technological collaboration in future.
