Viksit Bharat Solidarity Run 2026
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Embassy of India, Muscat hosted a 5-km Viksit Bharat Solidarity Run on 2nd October 2026 as part of Fit India Freedom Run 7.0, with enthusiastic participation from more than 1,000 members of the Indian community in Oman.
- The run was held during Seva Pakhwada (17 September–2 October), as part of efforts to foster a spirit of solidarity among Indian citizens and overseas Indian communities and to promote the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. The initiative also highlighted the importance of community participation, fitness and collective action in contributing to this vision.
- The run brought together children, youth, adults and senior members of the community, making it a vibrant celebration of fitness, unity and community spirit. Participants were provided with event T-shirts before the run, while commemorative medals were presented at the finish, marking their participation in the Viksit Bharat Run.
- The event began with Zumba and warm-up exercises, energising participants and setting the tone for the run. Carrying the Fit India Freedom Run 7.0 message — “Fitness ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz” — the initiative encouraged participants to embrace regular physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
- Held on Gandhi Jayanti, the event also recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring values of discipline, simplicity, physical well-being and service to society. These values complement the Fit India movement and the vision of a healthy and active population as a foundation for a Viksit Bharat.
- By bringing together the messages of Fit India and Viksit Bharat, the event highlighted the importance of a healthy and active population as an essential foundation for India's journey towards becoming a developed nation. The participation of the Indian community in Oman added a strong sense of solidarity and reaffirmed its close connection with India.
- Ambassador of India Prashant Pise, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the Indian community and thanked all participants, sponsors, and volunteers for their support in making the event a success.
- The Viksit Bharat Solidarity Run brought the Indian community together across generations in the spirit of fitness, solidarity and service, reaffirming their connection with India and the shared vision of a developed India by 2047.
