Scholarship Programme For Diaspora Children (SPDC)

Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC), for academic year 2018-19, has been launched. The online portal for the scholarship is www.spdcindia.gov.in

2.     SPDC is available to Children of NRIs/PIOs/OCIs in 66 countries (including Oman) for undergraduate programmes. The scheme is applicable to the following four categories:a) Children of Persons of Indian Origin;

b) Children of Non-Resident of Indians; c) Children of Indian workers working in ECR countries (including Oman) studying abroad;&d) Children of Indian workers in ECR countries (including Oman) – studying in India.

 Scholarship under Omani Programme for Cultural & Scientific Cooperation

Applications are invited for scholarships, under Programme for Cultural & Scientific Cooperation of the Sultanate of Oman,  from Indian students who wish to pursue higher studies in Oman and fulfill the following criteria:

a) Should have passed 10+2 in 2018 with certain minimum scores, as mentioned below required for admission in the following institutions:

Sharia Institute: 65% ; Higher Technical Colleges:75 % ; Colleges of Applied Sciences: 75 %; Financial and Banking Studies Colleges: 70 %; Sultan Qaboos University Colleges, require the candidate to have minimum marks for the subjects of specialization for each programme; Private Higher Studies Institutions: 80 %

b) Should not exceed 25 years as on 1/10/2018

2. Documents to be submitted:

a) Completely filled Grant Application Form form, alongwith photograph, and signature (on the bottom of the application form)

b) (Only in case of those who completed 10+2 outside Oman) Filled Qualification Evaluation Application, alongwith other requirements mentioned therein

c) Copy of Mark sheet of 10+2 attested by Principal of the School

d) Copy of Certificate of 10+2 attested by Principal of the School

e) Copy of passport

f) Medical report (Scholarship sponsoring Authority has not specified any format. General medical checkup report will suffice. Embassy is going to accept in all forms. Confirmation can be obtained from the office of DG of Scholarships in Ministry of Higher Education of Oman.)

g) Birth Certificate

h) A brief request, in not more than 150 words, addressed to Embassy of India, Muscat, from the Student or his/her parent/guardian, stating why he/she should be nominated for the Scholarship.

3. Before applying for the scholarship, please note the following:

a) The scholarship does not cover study of medical or paramedical specializations.

b) Scholarship will be awarded to only five Indian students. These will include 3 full scholarships (fee exemption + monthly allowance of R.O. 200 + to & fro air ticket once in a year + Free treatment in the Government hospitals, except dental and the treatment charges related with road accidents, for those who are having uninsured vehicles or driving without having the driving license or like that); and two scholarships with exemption from fees only. Details of the benefits under the scholarships,if desired, may be enquired from DG of Scholarships in Ministry of Higher Education of Oman. Embassy has no further information.

c) While the Embassy will be nominating applications received from applicants after checking eligibility and other requirements, the decision of awarding the Scholarship rests with Concerned Authorities of Government of Oman. Those selected for scholarship will be directly contacted by Scholarship granting authorities. Information, if made available to the Embassy, will be put in Embassy Facebook page and twitter page. Follow up with the Embassy is not required.

d) Students nominated for the scholarship will be registered w.e.f. second academic class, for the academic year 2018-2019.

Last date of receiving the filled Grant Application Form, alongwith the documents mentioned above at Embassy is 22 September 2018.
