Sultan Qaboos University signed a Letter of Understanding with Cochin University of Science and Technology, India, marking a new step in strengthening academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
The agreement was signed by His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, the Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Arun A. U., Registrar of Cochin University of Science and Technology, in the presence of His Excellency Godavarthi Venkata Srinivas, Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Sultanate of Oman, as well as a number of academics.
The Letter of Understanding reflects a shared commitment to cooperation and support in areas of mutual interest. It provides a framework for the exchange of scientists, faculty members, researchers and experts for research, teaching and the exchange of ideas. It also paves the way for academic staff and students from both universities to participate in conferences, symposia and international meetings.
In addition, the agreement enables faculty and researchers to undertake sabbatical leaves at the partner institution and establishes collaboration in joint research projects, technological exhibitions and the supervision of postgraduate students, including PhD and Master’s candidates. It further promotes student exchanges in disciplines of mutual interest, in accordance with the regulations of both universities.
The two institutions have also agreed to share academic resources such as books, publications, theses, research materials and software, while observing copyright and licensing agreements, and to encourage reciprocal visits by academics, researchers and students. Financing of the collaborative activities will be determined through mutual agreement between the parties.
This partnership is expected to broaden opportunities for academic exchange, enhance research collaborations and deepen ties of friendship between SQU and CUSAT.
