  • In celebration of 70 years of India’s Independence, Oman-India Sports Meet 2018 is being organized by Malayalam Wing of Indian Social Club, Oman, in cooperation with the Embassy of India, Muscat, and Ministry of Sports Affairs of Oman. The Meet was inaugurated on 4th May 2018, at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, by H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Omar bin Said Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Services. On this occasion, a friendly football match between First-Division I-League “Gokulam FC” from Kerala, India, and Oman’s Sur Club was played.

H.E Mohammed bin Yousuf Al Zarafi, Under Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was the Chief Guest. A Representative of ‘Invest in India’, India’s National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency, made a presentation on investment opportunities available in India and India’s recent transformation as a preferred destination for investors. A representative of Madhya Pradesh State of India highlighted opportunities for investments in Madhya Pradesh. Mr. Alkesh Joshi, Partner- E & Y, made a presentation on the Ease of doing Business in India. Mr. Pankaj Khimji, Director Khimji Ramdas, and Mr. Warith Al Kharusi, Chairman of Oman Centre for Skills Development, spoke about their experiences of doing business in India.

  • Ambassador inaugurated on 12th March'18, the Indian section of Big Show Oman 2018, an annual exhibition dedicated to construction and realty sectors, in which 25 Indian companies are taking part, representing India’s realty as well as building materials and accessories sectors.

  • Ambassador visited Duqm on 19-20 February 2018 to visit Sebacic Oman SAOC Plant set up by an Indian Joint Venture in Duqm. He was joined by HE Yahya bin Said bin Abdullah al Jabri, Chairman of Special Economic Zone Authority of Duqm, and Managing Director of M/s Sebacic Oman, Shri Pradeep Nair. This is the first investment by an Indian company in a manufacturing plant in Duqm. It is also the first manufacturing plant ready to be commissioned in Special Economic Zone of Duqm. Ambassador also visited an exhibition of sculptures created by Indian artists from scraps. These beautiful sculptures will be used to decorate various public squares in Duqm.

  • The Embassy participated in 3rd International Food Festival, which was organized by Dar Al Atta Society in collaboration with various Embassies, on Saturday 10th March 2018. A large number of people, including expatriates, enjoyed a variety of food on offer at various food stalls, including Indian food stalls, as well as cultural performances put up by Omani as well as expatriate, including Indian, dance and music groups. All the funds generated from sale of food items went directly to Dar Al Atta.

  • Marathi Wing of Indian Social Club, Oman, joined hands with the Indian Embassy in presenting 'Healing Harmony', a musical journey, led by a Dr Rahul, a renowned cancer surgeon, and three women breast cancer survivors. The Programme was aimed at educating people about cancer, the second major cause of death in the world. With it's focus on breast cancer, Healing Harmony was a wonderful tribute to International Women's Day.

Around 150 ITEC Alumni from Oman, comprising Omani Officials and professionals, who have participated in various training courses in India under ITEC Programme during previous years, attended the celebration.

  • The Embassy, in collaboration with PIOCCI (Platform for Indians to Operate, Co-operate, Collaborate and Invest) hosted a talk by Dr. Vinay Saharabuddhe, President, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) 'The India Story- Key Success Factors'. He spoke about key paradigm shifts in Governance initiated by the present NDA Government. Shri Syed Zafar Islam, Director, Air India, outlined the various reform measures initiated by the Governments and opportunities it offered for Indian and Omani business communities. The event was attended by around 150 Indian and Omani CEOs and businesspersons.

  • The Embassy co-hosted launch of book ‘Lavender Memories’ written by Amita Sanghvi. H.E. Mr. Mohammed bin Al Zubair, Advisor to His Majesty for Economic and Planning Affairs and Prof. Ibrahim Al Bakri, a renowned painter from Sultan Qaboos University whose paintings inspired Amita to pen her poems were Guests of Honour. Set to music and dance, a few poems of her were sung by Arundhati D.Vignesh Dev Burman.
